Pet Odor Removal

Long gone are the days when our pets simply accompanied their masters and were barely allowed into our homes. The love for pets these days is undeniable. From cuddling with pet owners on sofas, to snuggling in their beds, and accompanying us on outdoor trips in our cars.

Pets bring a range of benefits to pet owners but accidents are inevitable over time. While some occasionally slip, some frequently urinate on the carpets.  And when that happens, the odors can spread throughout the entire home if not taken care of immediately.  For every surface a pet accesses, there is a tendency to leave their scent behind. Even if you don’t have guests often, a house smelling of pet odor is not comfortable to live in.

How do you eliminate pet odor, pee and poop smells from the carpets, rugs, furniture and upholstery?

Here are a few tips you can take up.
  1. Pet's bed cleaning:    At least once a week, wash the pet's bedding and bed. Do not forget to use baking soda for those stubborn odors.
  2. Vacuuming: Remove all furniture covers and wash them in high heat and vacuum all sofas, cushions, mattresses, and furniture. Take special care in cleaning the areas under the furniture as well.
  3. Groom your pet: How often does your pet get groomed? It is important to get rid of smells and bacteria. Though not needed daily, a monthly clean will do. Seek a professional groomer.
  4. Deodorize: Get rid of pet odor with natural home available products. Sprinkle some baking soda on your carpet and fabrics, and vacuum it up in the mornings. What about blankets and cushion covers? Wash them in a mix of laundry powder and apple cider vinegar. This should do the trick.
  5. Air purifier: Get yourself an air purifier fitted with a carbon filter. This should be used while maintaining the cleanliness of your house and furniture.
  6. Dog bed:  A bed with anti-microbial properties is a great pick.
  7. Prevent future accidents: Pets always return to the ‘incident areas’ as long as they can trace their personal scent. Make the ‘incident area’ unattractive and attract them to a more ideal area such as the bathroom.
  8. Genesis of the incident: It is important to understand the reason why your pet did what it did. Could it have been a medical condition? Have your pet checked by a veterinarian to rule out the possibility of a medically related incident.
  9. Train: Train your pet on your desired mannerisms through positive reinforcement.

Already set stains.
For those stains that went unnoticed, hard to locate, or tended to when the damage was too much, seeking professional assistance is highly recommended.

No one loves our pets as much as we do.  But the responsibilities of a pet owner often conflict with the responsibilities of keeping a home clean, and that's where we come in.
